Unnecessary Punishment
I've noticed that some kids in school are getting in some deep trouble for reasons that seem very silly. Yet, very serious things go on undetected in schools every day. Why are the school authorities cracking down on things so small, when there is an obvious problem with serious rule-breakings?
Every day, 2 scenarios, similar to the ones below, happen. Here is one:
Some students are eating lunch, when Student 2 asks Student 1 if he can have a piece of the pepperette that Student 1 has in his lunch. Student 1 tries to rip off a piece of the pepperette for Student 2, but fails. Student 1 says to Student 2, "I can't rip it." Then, a teacher comes over and asks, "What did you just say?" to Student 1. Student 1 replies, "All I said was that I couldn't rip this pepperette here." The teacher is somehow enraged by this and yells at Student 1, "Go out in the hall now! I'm calling your parents!" Student 1 was grounded for a week, even though he truly did nothing at all. And from then on, that teacher would always be watching Student 1, for the smallest little imperfections.
Here is the second scenario:
There is a kid that no longer has any friends. Every day, he is bullied and made fun of. Sometimes he even gets beat up. The teachers sees some of this happening, but they do nothing. One day, the kid snaps. He brings a knife to school. He's threatens some of the kids that bullied him, but luckily no body got hurt. Some kids told the principal, and the kid was suspended. A couple of the bullies got one detention.
As you can see in the first scenario, a kid got in trouble for doing an everyday task. In the second scenario, if the teachers had just done something about the bullying, nothing like that ever would have happened. The problem would be solved. But, it wasn't, and this rant is here now. I think those two scenarios were enough to get you to understand what I'm trying to say here. I'm done ranting for now.
